Dark Space

from Macroforms by dubldragon.

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Physical CD copy of the newest dubldragon. album, Macroforms!

The culmination of three years of work, Macroforms is an effort to examine and explain the space in which we exist.

Based in part on ideas present in the works of William Gibson, Macroforms is an examination of man’s place (or lack thereof) in the universe. In a digital space, what meaning does physicality have? When man has depleted the Earth entirely, will we have anywhere to ruin next in its place? Where do the divisions lie between, wants, needs, and desires? As unanswerable as it may be, it sure is fun to think about isn’t it?

Mind. Body. Soul. RAM. Blood. Bytes. Steel.

    Lyrics by Skeptik
    Production by Danny G
Artwork by E.B. Tolbert of Nemesis Comix

lyrics

With chemicals as impetus, we're limitless in our exploration
Wondering how to advance as lifeforms past the place we call our station
With that in mind, we set our hearts on distant stars
Getting there is the longest part, but luckily dreaming isn't hard
What lies on the other side, we've never tried
The day we open our eyes is the day forever dies
Events on the horizon, vents to take our sighs in
Simulated noise to still the mania of silence
If the planets are islands, and the sky is an ocean
We're a school of fish lost in the throes of our emotion
Searching for a second home, a shelter from devotion
Do you recall, the second law of motion
Let me remind you of the third and the way that its worded
Equal and opposite means everything's imperfect
Wish I knew more and had room to talk
But at this point I'm merely breeding stock

(Hook 1)
Gotta make it last, this trek towards the light
If we forget about the past, this could end over night
So with memory intact, we continue our plight
Eyes strain against glass as we slip out of sight

(Hook 2)
Why if, we should all be saying when
And whenever we fail we should all just say again
Keep screaming out I can hardly hear your voice
In the deepest of space with no sight or any noise
I reach out even harder when I know that it's useless
The human condition is a blessing and a nuisance
Keep looking, though you can't see a thing
Hear in dark space where depravity is king

And meanwhile, what of those we left behind
We are simply men because the thing we did was not so kind
To be fair, there was no belief there
We proposed a leap forth, the were all like leap where
I think back to all of those that didn't make it
When the sun goes, no one is considered sacred
Maybe I should've stayed home and waited
But if I did who'd be here now to feel negated
More regulated than the air that we breath
The foods we receive and the artificial trees
All thistles sting altricial things
A thousand years pass and none will know what this drivel means
Infinite strings yet we have to inhabit this one
Wings melt and we can't be that mad its good fun
We could sing of the things that old gravity's done
But I won't hand him that when he's already won

(Hook 1)

For act three, a tragedy why not
As if impressed with our own negligence we gallantly trot
Made immortal by our destiny, we actually thought
We'd be the first of our kind to see what vanity wrought
But we're not special, ask the rock that claimed our vessel
Said rock acted as a mortar and the planet as a pestle
If I die here, then I die here
No stars in my eyes, no sound in my ears
So close to the sun, I know why we fly near
Balls of flame, its all the same, we must defy fear
Or be defined by the things that we disdain
Which would explain the more than passing interest in pain
The inference today is what difference does it make
Promised paradise but this is disparate, I'd say
One whisper to the fates could set all of this straight
But then I remember that that shit is all fake
